Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains what information The Ready Shelf collects when you visit, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
Information we collect
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We keep that correspondence so we can follow up, and we do not add you to any mailing list from it.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, the page requested, referring page, and timestamp. This is used for security and to understand which articles are read.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes:
- Analytics. To understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are read, how visitors arrive, which devices they use.
- Affiliate attribution. When you click an affiliate link, a cookie or tracking parameter records that the referral came from us so the seller can attribute any resulting commission. See our affiliate disclosure.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not prevent you from reading anything on this site.
Advertising
We may advertise this site on third-party platforms such as search engines. Those platforms may set their own cookies to measure whether an ad led to a visit. Their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Third parties
When you follow a link from this site to a seller or another website, you leave our site and their privacy policy applies. We have no control over and take no responsibility for how third parties handle your data.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except where necessary to operate the site (for example, our hosting provider) or where required by law.
Data retention
Server logs are retained for a limited period and then discarded. Email correspondence is retained until it is no longer relevant.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Write to editor@thereadyshelf.com and we will action reasonable requests.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
