Affiliate Disclosure

The Ready Shelf participates in affiliate programs. This means that some of the links on this site are tracked, and if you click one and go on to make a purchase, we may receive a commission from the seller.

This costs you nothing. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or navigate to the seller directly. The commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.

What this does not affect

Commission rates do not determine what we cover or how we cover it. In practice this means:

• We recommend the cheaper option when the cheaper option is better, even when it pays us less or nothing at all.
• We write negative assessments of products we have affiliate relationships with when the assessment is warranted.
• We do not accept payment in exchange for a favourable review, for placement in a list, or for a link.
• We do not let sellers see or approve an article before it is published.

Where you'll see it

Any page containing affiliate links carries a visible notice. We do not rely on this page alone to disclose the relationship, because burying the disclosure where nobody reads it would defeat the point.

Free samples

Occasionally a manufacturer sends a product for testing at no charge. When that happens we say so in the article itself. Receiving a sample does not obligate us to publish, to publish favourably, or to return the item on any particular timeline.

Why we tell you this

Partly because United States Federal Trade Commission guidelines require disclosure of material connections between a publisher and a seller. Mostly because a recommendation is worth nothing if you can't see how the person making it gets paid.
